"The marinade for this steak is equally delicious brushed on beef kabobs. I like it so much better that store-bought varieties. --Janet Briggs"

DIRECTIONS
In a small saucepan, saute garlic in oil for 3-4 minutes or until tender; remove from the heat. In a 4-cup measure, combine the vinegar, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, sugar, basil and garlic.
Pour 1 cup marinade into a large resealable plastic bag; add the meat. Seal bag and turn to coat; refrigerate for at least 6 hours or overnight. Cover and refrigerate remaining marinade.
Coat grill rack with nonstick cooking spray before starting the grill. Prepare grill for indirect heat. Drain and discard marinade from steak. Grill steak, uncovered, over medium heat until browned on each side.
Move steak to indirect side of grill. Grill, covered, for 45-50 minutes on each side or until meat reaches desired doneness (for medium-rare, a meat thermometer should read 145 degrees F; medium, 160 degrees F; well-done, 170 degrees F), basting occasionally with marinade.

I used this recipe for the first time last night and it was delicious! I eye-balled the measurements and marinated for about 4 hours. We didn't even have that great of cuts, but it still turned out awesome. Highly recommended!

Excellent dish, However I did cube the steak first, and added a splash of soya sauce to cut the vinegar and a tsp or so of meat tenderizer. Then strung the cubes on kabobs and grilled. Delicious!

The marinade is basically an uncooked variation to bbq sauce. So I decided to cook the marinade in a small sauce pan. I used brown sugar as opposed to the white, went halvesies with apple cider and red wine vinegar to make the full cup, and dashed in a tad of liquid smoke. I also thought a lil more ketchup was necessary because the vinegar could be considered a lil overwhelmin as is. If you don't wanna add anything that is fine too, but I thought it would at least be best to simmer the ingredients together first. I also sliced some portabella shrooms in the bag as well and bbqd em for a very complimenting side. It's always good to find new steak marinades here and there, and this one does not disappoint.

I made a few changes to the marinade because we're not big fans of vinegar. I used 1/4 cup lite soy sauce (didn't have worchester sauce), 1 1/2 cups water and added the garlic cloves. Instead of heating on top of stove I just popped it in the microwave to infuse it with garlic. I added 2 tbsp. oil, 2 tbsp brown sugar and a touch of lemon juice. Marinated overnight and my husband grilled it. It was tender and tasty.
