Fish Chowder

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2008
I made this with mahi mahi and added a can of chopped clams. I came up short on the clam juice so I made up the volume with fat free half and half, and used just 1 can of milk. Definitely add lots more Old Bay...will make again, was a big hit with friends!

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2008
These muffins were the best! I followed the recipe exactly but I did add in a quarter cup of walnuts. It was delicious and the crumb topping makes these irrasistible! Great for using up leftover mushy bananas.

Blueberry Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2008
I was pretty disappointed with the outcome of this pie after all the great reviews. Even with extra cornstarch (5T) and extra sugar (1c) recommended by other reviewers, the pie turned out like soup and not very sweet. I even battled my temptations and waited overnight to cut it. I had also lowered the heat to 400 as many before me recommended and wrapped the edges in foil, but the crust was still done very early. The leftovers are still tasty for me at home, but a total mess to serve to guests... I think next time I'll try one of the recipes that uses gelatin instead of cornstarch.. or just make blueberry shortcake..

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2008
So easy to make and so good!!! I fooled lots of old southern families with this recipe. They said that it was the best Pulled Pork they ever had. Don't get fancy .... Just follow the recipe.

Penne with Spicy Vodka Tomato Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2008
OH. MY. GOODNESS!!!! I think this was the most yummiest thing I've ever made. I used diced tomatoes, the kind with added basil, garlic and onion. I also used half and half, but next time I'll use cream. I also used the hot italian sausage, and that made it very spicy. I'll use sweet next time. Also, I have to say that I kinda liked the sauce before I added the half and half. Will for sure be making this again!!

Gramma Beaton's Brown Sugar Beans

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2008
I was relieved to find a recipe without any canned beans! I used white beans, and a combination of molasses and maple syrup rather than sugar. We took it to a BBQ, and it went so fast, I had to scrape the pan to get a taste!

Kielbasa Stew

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2008
Smelled like my great-grandma's stuffed cabbages. I love that cabbage/kielbasa smell. I used tomato sauce, and added a can of white beans and one diced potato. Hubby asked that next time, I up the cabbage, more potato and lots of carrot. I will make this a lot.

Holiday Shortbread Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2008
Great recipe. I did a few variations. I added another 3/4 cup of sugar, 3/4 cup of powdered baking cocoa (as my husband is a lover of chocolate, and 1 cup of chopped and toasted, unsalted Macadamia nuts. I cut the cold butter into slices and worked them into the dry mixture using my Kitchen Aid mixer. Just scrap down the sides a couple of times during the process. Once in the jelly roll pan, I rolled the top even and then rolled the nuts into the dough. Marvelous 5 star recipe. Thanks allrecipies!

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2008
Don't send a mob after me, but I didn't care for this. I think my husband put to much parm in it, b/c it tasted salty. Hubby pulled off the topping half way of eating it. But my mom-in-law liked it.

Sausage con Queso Dip

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2008
Let's just say this, I made Hamburger Helper for my husband (which is his all-time fav. thing to eat, gross out) and he ate a big bowl of this dip before he touched the H.H. THAT'S a good dip. I used salsa and it was so yummy!

Amber's Sesame Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2008
5 stars all the way!! I had to use Bisquick, b/c I discovered bugs in my flour (probably haven't used it in 5 months) and it turned out fine. I tripled the sauce, and next time will make more. Also, my husband and I decided to add carrots and snow-peas. He likes veggies, and even though it won't really be "sesame chicken" I think it will still be good. The sauce we all liked. I think this recipe will be made often.

Corned Beef Hash

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2008
Mmm- comfort food! I happened to have exactly 6 potatoes, so followed the recipe. It was tasty and filling. My Dad always puts maple syrup on his hash- so that's how I served it to the kids. They thought it was neat to put syrup on their dinner, but decided ketchup was a better choice!
