Atlantic South

The Atlantic South stretches from Delaware all the way down to southern Florida. The modern culinary history of this sub-region stretches back to 1565, when Spaniards waded ashore to establish the first European colony in America at Saint Augustine, Florida. The Spanish introduced pigs and peaches into the Americas. Centuries later, pork barbecue rules the South and peaches command the orchards of Georgia and South Carolina. Seafood is on the menu all along the Atlantic South, from the blue crab of the Chesapeake Bay to the conch fritters of Key West. Rice once dominated the Lowcountry of South Carolina and Georgia. Though the industry has long since died out, the rice-based dishes that grew up here, like Hoppin’ John, remain.

Sweet and Sour Kielbasa

Reviewed on Aug. 20, 2008 by Janine
I have made this recipe many times. Sometimes using kielbasa, and sometimes using cocktail wieners. Both are very good and great for parties. I throw it all in the crock pot to simmer and can never make enough. People gobble them up! When I want to change it from a 4 star to a 5 star recipe, I add prepared horseradish to the mix. It gives it a perfect taste and thickens it as well. Thanks for the recipe!

Sausage Egg Bake

Reviewed on Aug. 20, 2008 by MOLLE888
I can't really rate this appropriately because I altered the recipe so much. I added garlic, onion, spinach and tomato to mine and it was delicious. It puffed out farther than the dish, however, so you might want to try a larger dish (although I just put a cookie sheet under mine to catch any drips). Thank you for the diving board, though!

Vegetable Lo Mein Delight

What a fabulous recipe! You can add any vegetables that you care for... they are all good! I served this along with Seared Tuna with Wasabi Butter Sauce from this site and the two were a match made in heaven!
